Thai Herbal Ball Massage Maui
What is Thai Herbal Ball Massage?
Thai Herbal Ball Massage in Maui! Thai Herbal Ball Massage is the application of heated herbal balls down the Shen-lines (energy lines) of the body. The massage technique originates from Thailand. The herbal balls are called Luk Pra Kob, which means “herbal pressing sphere.”
Thai Herbal Ball Massage was first used by Buddhist Monks during the 14th Century to treat injured soldiers returning from battle. It brings relief to aching muscles, helps heal bruising, brings flexibility back to stiff joints, aids tissue healing and soothes the skin.
It relieves pain and decreases inflammation in the tissues. Thai Herbal Ball Massage also restores the balance of the body’s Qi (the circulating life force whose existence and properties are the basis of much of Chinese philosophy and medicine).
First the practitioner soaks the herbal balls in water for a few minutes, then he/she heats the balls in a steamer or rice cooker. Steaming Thai Herbal Balls activates the herbs, leaves, oils and flowers in the balls. The heated balls are a great tool to work out tight muscles, and treat muscle pain and arthritis.
Thai Herbal Ball Massage is done by the practitioner with compression (kneading) strokes. The kneading stokes are usually done in a circular motion. Compression strokes feel amazing, especially when done with heated herbal balls! This Treatment also includes some Traditional Massage on trouble areas.
Thai Herbal Ball Massage is a Body Detox Treatment, since heating the balls activates herbs/flowers, and the heated herbs make essential oils that are then massaged into the body. The heated Thai Herbal Balls aids the release of toxins. It feels wonderful! The circular/ kneading strokes feel amazing too!
